Schon seltsam, wie ein Medium, was in Deutschland zunächst einmal indiziert ist, und vor allem aber gar nicht veröffentlicht wurde, so sehr wahrnehmbare Wellen schlagen kann. Wahrscheinlich ging über die Hälfte aller Verkäufe seitens amazon.co.uk diesbezüglich direkt nach Deutschland, es lebe der Wegfall der Zollgrenze, und die Serverstatistiken werden für Deutschland zwar nicht veröffentlicht, wie es in den USA der Fall ist, aber die Verantwortlichen lassen durch die Blume wissen, dass über die Jahre besagtes Videospiel ganz oben ist in der Auswertung.
Das deckt sich mit der eigenen Wahrnehmung hier. Nur einige Beispiele hier. Beim Gang durch Berlins Mitte findet sich auf einem Plakat, welches zum Häuserstürmen/-besetzen aufrufen will, das folgende -

Nun ja, wie jedermann so seine Feeds konsumiert, bleibt wahrscheinlich noch markt-zu-erforschen. Ob auf dem Mobiltelefon, Laptop, Arbeit, zu Hause, ob eingebettet in Google oder Yahoo homepages, stand-alone-Lesern oder dem Web, es hat inzwischen wohl jeder seinen eigenen Ansatz. Fest steht nur eines, ohne geht’s nicht. Für diejenigen unter euch, die den Google Reader 
benutzen, und zu den glücklichen Chrome usern zählen, gibt es jedoch eine wirklich gute neben-der-Spur: Feedsquares.
Dabei handelt es sich um eine Erweiterung für Chrome (Apple, ubuntu, Win), die inzwischen sogar gefeatured wird auf der Erweiterungenseite. Installiert, erscheint ein kleines Feedsquares-icon neben der Adresszeile, welches offenbar die Feedsquares Darstellung aufruft. Eure RSS-Feeds werden horizontal dargestellt, links nach rechts, oder rechts nach links; ihr könnt oben die Kategorien, in der Mitte die einzelnen Feeds in Form von Quadraten, und unten dann schließlich die eizelnen Einträge konsumieren. Das mach Spass, und das ist es eigentlich auch schon. Für alles darüber hinaus gehende wie zB. gesternte Angelegenheiten, gesharete Einträge, oder die superben Statistiken vom Reader, müsst ihr weiterhin die eigentliche klassische Readerseite aufrufen. Aber wie sprach schon der große Dirk Diggler dereinst – “there’s nothing like a little double traffic around here”.

Nun ist es ja schon eine ganze Weile her, dass die Superhelden der Leinwand (jedenfalls die, auf die es ankommt) nicht mehr nuklear veränderte, trash-Sci-Fi-ermächtigte Honks sind. Statt dessen benutzen sie einfach die Dinge, die einem jeden zur Verfügung stehen, und der Unterschied zwischen dir und mir besteht lediglich darin, das auf eben der besagten Leinwand zu tun. Und natürlich darin, sich ein bisschen mehr als der Durchschnitts-Otto-Normalo foltern zu lassen. Wem das nicht genug Anreiz ist, ins Kino zu gehen oder 24 zu schauen, der heisst dann wahrscheinlich lebighack. Jedenfalls gibt es, auch schon seit geraumer Zeit, aber uns hier bei Phantommemory geht ja nie so sehr um Aktualität, sondern um …Relevanz, hrrrr, jedenfalls, gibt es also auf der amerikanischen Herren-Shopping-site uncrate.com eine nette Anleitung, wie man all die Dinge, die Jack Bauer benutzt, sich eben selbst beschaffen kann. I´d like to buy a new smartphone, got an iPhone 3G that technically is now 3 years old. What i hate most is the app-censorship of the big company behind the phone and especially the feeling to become one of the apple-fanboys buying their products just because of their logo, despite there beeing better hardware alternatives out there.
So – i was looking around the last days for a competitor to the upcoming iphone 4, or at least to the 3gs. The device should have i nice look and touch, be well-crafted, have a big highres screen and yepp, that´s it. Of course the only the real alternative to apple´s iOs should be Android these days.
HTC seems to produce cheap-looking and feeling plastic toys with a life-span shorter than my dick. The Nexus One is nice but getting to old and google will not produce a successor.
I found the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Nice phone, nice price, maybe a good start to move one step further away from the Apple-Hype to Linux and Android.
But then – hey, what do I read? The phone still comes with Android 1.6 and SE is planning to update to 2.1 in Q4 2010. Even no word about Android 2.2. Users are talking about serious keyboard lags, some minor problems here and some major there. But SE won´t come up with an update….. so it´s a great phone limited severely by outdated software.
So what would be more frustrating, going on with joining the apple-boys with frequent firmware-updates keeping your device healthy or having a nice piece of hardware that frustrates you because the os on it sucks (lacks frequent bugs-releases)???
I still don´t know, i like the X10 a lot, i´m curious to try Android, but as of today 06/16/2010 there´s still no update to 2.1 on the X10 
Users even started an online-petition to Sony to bring Android 2.2 one the Experia X10

Now, first off we do not belittle Microsoft, we have been using Win for a long and prospering time and are fond of our 360s. But some time last year, when trying to download MS Photosynth on one non-win-machine, a screen pops up, just like this one right here -

Skinning your favourite little gadget is a tricky beast. If you are able to find your skin of choice, and if they do deliver it to your doorstep, you will most probably need some kind rocket surgery degree in order to apply it correctly and so forth. So by the time you make your way to the little site of gela-skins, you probably are willing to just let it go. However, the guys ‘n’ gals at gela, while charging you handsome prices and not really making you any offers/deals (what would I need three skins for? One is the magic number), they truly deliver. When you put your hands on one of their bad boys, the work is almost already done – just peel the skin off, center it around a bit, and it’s done. Gelaskins are made of a special material that doesn’t bubble and doesn’t wear of – perfick.

Following an unholy flood of tweets and the immediate pursue of EDGE online and the other tech- and gadgetblogs, it became crystal clear what to make of project Natal and the redesigned 360.
First things first (man, you’re *ing with the worst)
One year ago, out of nowhere, Microsoft introduced its Project Natal and showcased some possible uses of it. They now came out with a new name for this hardware add-on: Kinect, alongside a slight redesign. Now, I’ve always kinda liked MS’ approach to the entertainment circus: They seemed to tell themselves to not be afraid, to go for the straight-up nerdy, to first of all embrace science fiction and its aesthetics. Hence the design of the first XBOX – by many means the ugliest console ever made, with a butt-ugly controller, and the giant letter X designed into the machine’s top (y’know, “X”, as in… Xbox.) – endearing, heartbreaking even, given the tough and iconic design of the almighty PS2. EDGE themselves wrote in print issue 206′s editorial, “…a console whose appearence seemed to be designed for fans of cheap sci-fi TV series featuring an over-abundance of alien make-up.” With the introduction of the 360, and maybe a bit unnoticed by many, the design became actually quite a clever one. Only a few hints to the old design, an exterior that still reminds you of an X, but from the front as well as from the side, and the new controller, they altogether left one with the impression of a learning progress, a little culture building there, a slick image, without ever givin up completely MS’ stance on console-design. And spinnig the concept around, and building a platform for skateboard games, is a clever turn in itself, dear 360. Now, from this point of view, you’ll sympathize a little with their attempt to create a new brand, and combining the words “kinetic” and “connect”. And maybe you can actually get used to this. But it’s still a very not-cool name, and it doesn’t evoke passion on any level. This must be coming from the same team that thought of the truly original name of “XBOX”. Bummer.
Slight touches? But I am sure right now.
I liked the original design of the Natal. The new one, not so much. It has become full of edges without a reason, and leads a little bit back to the days where I wouldn’t have thought of buying a Microsoft console: The original XBOX-design. It looks as if this had been redone by Jonathan Ive’s little cousin, you know, as if talent doesn’t necessarily extend to the whole of your family. Or, they simply had a year of too much time to tinker with the device’s exterior.
A little bit of pain
And I so based my assumptions on a new, quiet, and brilliant design for the rumored 360 Slim. But then they came up with this.
No comment would be best. But I am writing this right now, and I will have to decide at precisely this instant, so I’ma go with the comments included. Some called it “Alienware-design”, some called it names…so the little touch of magic featured in the original 360′s design was just a mistake, this is what you truly like to say? Making a console you will have to hide in your living room, maybe put it next to your home server in the closet, you know, down in the cellar. Where you will have to go every time you change a disc. OK. Maybe over time it will aquire a certain kind of geeky cool, just like the first batch of Zunes, where they really had a brown model. I liked that. What I find a little bit disturbing is the fact that MS obviously doesn’t realize what came out good and what went, well, not so well, and just randomly travel back in time, to those very rare bad old times. And the most annoying talk of corporate reps the likes of “new era in entertainment” oder even worse “this is your living room, more social than ever before” doesn’t help. And to think of the fact that those people get paid for saying this. But put it this way: They are now in the perfect position to make an inspiring jump in exterior design by the time they plan the next gen of consoles.
